Company Profile and Background:
Adventure Travel was founded in summer 1986. Started by proprietor S. N. Malik it soon became a popular holiday organizer for tourists visiting Pakistan as well as European nationals living in Pakistan. By mid 1987 Adventure Travel became one of the leading tour operators in Islamabad with a registered computerized office in the heart of main commercial area of the capital city called Blue Area,
The reputation of Adventure Travel grew worldwide owing to the professional hard work and keen willingness to provide the best services to the client. It became one of the most reliable and safety conscious tour operating agent in Pakistan for which it received several international award nominations.
Since 1987 Adventure Travel started the concept of Fixed Departures for the very first time in Pakistan with a tour departing on each weekend. This helped individuals from around the world to enjoy exciting trips and adventures at a fraction of the individual traveling cost.
Apart from this Adventure Travel had been the leader in introducing new travel destinations and concepts for the tourism industry. These included the most popular INDUS RIVER REGION FOR BOAT SAFARI introduced in 1986 and several new treks in Northern Pakistan. Adventure Travel revolutionized trek logistics and food planning system by introducing a new and unique menu based system which has been adopted by several other trekking outfitters. Apart from these inland travels Adventure Travel had also pioneered the Western Silk Road and lead the first overland expedition in the history of this area from Kashgar to Kyrghizstan, Kazakstan and Uzbekistan. Adventure Travel also pioneered the camel back trips to the ancient sites in Takla Makan desert in Xinjiang province of China.
Apart from developing touristic aspect Adventure Travel was deeply concerned about the impact on environment from increase in tourist visiting remote areas, rubbish from trekkers and mountaineers as well as deforestation and population explosion.
ADVENTURE TRAVEL pioneered the environment studies in Karakoram in 1986 and the same summer submitted the first report on pollution study of Baltoro glacier to the Ministry of Tourism. The subsequent efforts of Adventure Travel led to the attention of government of Pakistan on the important issue of environment conservation.
Due to the keen efforts of Adventure Travel in conservation of nature a number of national parks and wildlife sencturies were established in the Northern Areas and several endangered species were saved from extinction including the Snow Leopard, Himalayan Ibex and Markhor. Now the controlled Trophy Hunting programme run by the state ensures sustained conservation of these species with collaboration of the local populations.

- CNPPA Commission on National Parks and Protected Areas.
- International Task Force on Tourism in Protected Areas.
- International Mountain Areas Task Force.
- International Task Force on Collaborative Management.
- PATA Pakistan Chapter.
Apart from research and advise on tourism and environment issues Adventure Travel ran a pilot project on cleanup and maintenance of the base camps of Nanga Parbat in the Rupal valley. This project was run without any outside funding and employed local villagers on a selfsustained basis. The project was a great success.
Adventure Travel participates in several International tourism marts and fares each year to promote Pakistan's tourist destinations abroad and holds as many as six tourism seminars in Islamabad each year.
